The Scooter’s Coffee Brand Promise, often recited to franchisees, customers and employees, is: “Amazing People, Amazing Drinks… Amazingly Fast!®” It represents the company’s business origins from 1998 and reflects the brand's commitment to providing the fastest (and friendliest) drive-thru coffee service to new and loyal customers alike

Ideal Candidate

Our franchisees must believe in our brand, products and processes. We’re not looking to sell stores…we’re looking to partner with smart people who want to build a business together. A minimum net worth of $500K, with liquid assets of at least $100K, is required. Previous business ownership is not needed, but some leadership background is a must.

Our potential franchisees must believe in and embrace our brand culture and CORE VALUES. They must understand the guidelines that owning a franchise brings, while enjoying the comfort of knowing that they don't have to start from scratch and never have to go it alone.

History

Scooter’s Coffee began its very first operation in Bellevue, Nebraska in early 1998 under the original name “Scooter’s Java Express.” Founders Don and Linda Eckles started the first Scooter’s Coffee with a simple philosophy: serve people a quality drink, with outstanding customer service (huge smiles), and get them through the drive thru line quickly!

True to the course, we stand by that Brand Promise today:

Amazing People, Amazing Drinks…Amazingly Fast! In 2001, five stores were built, and the decision was made to form a franchising organization and begin awarding Scooter’s Coffee franchises. In 2005, the company brand was changed to Scooter’s Coffeehouse to reflect the premium, high quality brand that represents the core of who we are as a company.

In addition, a new logo was designed reflecting a more sophisticated image geared toward a sophisticated coffee consumer. In 2011, to be more inclusive of the drive-thru concept, “Coffeehouse” was shortened, and the company brand was changed to Scooter’s Coffee.

Training And Support

Operations

The Operations team provides the business coaching that helps franchisees understand how to implement a cost-effective program in their stores. They do this by monitoring the cost of goods, labor costs, equipment maintenance, and hiring solid managers and personable barista team members. Every franchisee and his or her store manager spends four weeks training in a world-class training facility at our headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.

Training curriculum includes product preparation, personnel development, and store operations. In addition, our training team spends time before, during and after the opening week in the stores with the manager and barista team. The goal is to ensure drinks are made to our standards and that the people who prepare those drinks provide the amazing

Marketing

Long before a new Scooter’s Coffee location opens, the marketing team is creating awareness about the store with banners, social media, and concentrated publicity. Once it’s open, strategic and focused grand opening campaigns are implemented and designed to create an instant customer base in the surrounding area.

The whole focus of marketing is to drive traffic to the stores. This is accomplished through on-site marketing, targeted direct mail programs, and digital campaigns that are designed to bring in customers and keep them coming back. Campaigns are carefully tied together so that, regardless of where a customer learns of Scooter’s Coffee, the message is consistent.

Control of Franchise Products & Distribution

Early on in the franchising process, it became apparent that controlling products and distribution would be integral to the success of the entire Scooter’s Coffee franchise system. Therefore, we own the company that supplies all of our products to our franchisees called Harvest Roasting. This allows us to leverage the buying power of a 200+ store system and created control over product quality, pricing and timely/consistent delivery to the stores. Harvest Roasting has developed a reputation for its superior bean quality and roasting methods.

Franchise Support Continues Beyond Opening Week

Franchisees always have access to the Franchise Support Team for ongoing training, questions, and advice. Annual franchise conferences give franchisees and their management teams the opportunity to learn about new programs, sample products, receive training and share information. Marketing communications are constant, training tips and videos are made available, and the information is consistently shared with managers and their teams to help them grow and, just as importantly, allow franchise owners the time to focus on opening other locations.
