I’m Tim Lopez, Founder of Tim Lopez Group, a business brokerage and commercial real estate advisory firm focused on helping owners buy, sell, and transition privately held businesses the right way.
My background spans more than 30 years across business brokerage, commercial real estate, construction, and owner-operator businesses. That combination matters. Many brokers understand listings but not operations, or valuations but not leases, build-outs, or transition risk. I’ve lived on both sides of the table—as an owner, operator, and advisor—which allows me to evaluate businesses realistically and structure transactions that survive due diligence and close cleanly.
I work primarily with owners who want straight answers. That means honest pricing, clean financial presentation, realistic timelines, and early identification of deal issues—before they become problems. I’m not interested in inflated valuations or marketing deals that fall apart late in the process. My goal is to create transactions that make sense for both sides and hold up under scrutiny.
My experience includes representing sellers and buyers across service businesses, specialty trades, light manufacturing, retail, and owner-operated companies, with and without associated real estate. I also bring extensive experience in real-estate-attached businesses, lease analysis, and property-related risk, which is often overlooked in business sales.
In addition to brokerage work, I have over three decades of hands-on construction experience and have managed complex renovations, expansions, and repositioning projects. I am also a Managing Partner in an assisted living and memory care operation, where I oversee real estate, licensing, financial performance, and operations. That operating background gives me a practical lens when reviewing financials, staffing models, and transition plans.
I am licensed in California and New Mexico and work with clients nationwide. I prioritize confidentiality, disciplined buyer screening, and clear communication throughout the process. Sellers know where they stand, buyers understand what they are acquiring, and surprises are minimized.
If you’re considering selling a business, acquiring one, or simply want a clear-eyed assessment of your options, my role is to give you facts, not hype—and to guide the process from start to finish with professionalism and accountability.
